Taking the Long Way Home

It’s okay.

You forgot who you were

for a moment.

Sometimes, getting lost

allows you to find new

avenues of your being.

Find the liberation

in taking the long way home.

Welcome back, queen.

Welcome home.

I decided to share a moment from my date with the sunrise this morning with the hope that it would encourage someone else. 2018 taught me that very often, maturation and growing will conceal itself as self discovery. And sometimes, even a form of rediscovering everything you thought of yourself.

Last year I watched my mother discover herself as a caretaker. My best friend discover herself as a new mother. I watched my older sister stretch herself even more as a business woman. I discovered parts of myself through the pursuit of being a better friend and daughter. And I even took witness to my own soul discovering portions of me that were dormant, yet demanded so much of me. Although that journey may have, at times, been disheartening. I’m glad I made it home.

So my prayer for you is that you would find the courage to commit to the journey of discovering yourself and even make a vow to rediscover yourself (when necessary) 🌻
